Derek Hyde-Lay
Meet Derek Hyde-Lay
Derek’s physiotherapy journey began in Victoria, Canada. Growing up, Derek was an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing various sports, especially rugby, golf, and basketball. This love for physical activity, as well as managing his own string of injuries sparked Derek’s interest in the human body and its capabilities, leading to the pursuit of a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary.
After completing undergraduate studies, Derek decided to expand his knowledge by moving to Australia to complete a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree at the University of Melbourne. There he further developed a keen interest in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, particularly lower limb pathologies. Loving being involved with sport and the community, Derek is currently a physiotherapist for Power House Rugby Club as well as the Melbourne Rebels Junior Academy.
Derek is a dedicated and passionate physiotherapist who is committed to collaborating with individuals from all walks of life to reach their optimal capacity, enabling them to enjoy the things they love.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys staying active playing basketball and golf, as well as exploring the great outdoors. As an avid sports fan, you can also find Derek frequently taking in many different sports, in particular the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks.
